| Admission Requirements | | | | Potential graduate students in plant pathology should have a sound college background in the basic biological and physical sciences and mathematics, and have completed at least one course each in inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and physics.
Students are strongly encouraged to complete their prerequisites prior to admission to the graduate program. While it is not unusual for students to have one or two prerequisites outstanding upon admission, greater numbers of outstanding prerequisites may hamper a student's progress in the graduate program and lower the probability that a student will be awarded fellowship funds.
If English is not your native language, you are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Additionally, all applicants are required to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).
Our preferred performance level requirements for the program are:
TOEFL scores: Computer 232 and Paper 575
GRE scores: Verbal 500, Quantitative 600, and Analytical Writing 4.5
Undergraduate GPA (U.S. students only): 3.5 or higher. There is some flexibility with respect to this preferred GPA requirement. For example, students with lower GPA’s may be accepted into the program if they have extensive research or work experience related to Plant Pathology.
