Research Focus
I
am working on natural products produced by fungi. My work includes de isolation
and chemical characterization of the products, as well as the study of how and
when they are synthesized. The project of my thesis is based on one particular
strain, a wood isolate from Minnesota.
This strain is a basidiomycete with certain characteristics that could make it
useful for biological control or biotechnology. The first objective of my work
on this strain is to identifyidentifiy the metabolites capable of inhibition of other
organisms. How the project will follow from then is not yet defined.
