Class Information
Course Objectives/Audience

  • Assist sophomore through senior level undergraduate students in Agriculture/Environmental Systems (AgES), Science and Agriculture program, College of Biological Sciences (CBS) and Council on Liberal Education (CLE) programs by developing an awareness of various aspects of air pollution and its consequences on human health and welfare.
  • Provide and stimulate a forum for the students to discuss various viewpoints on the subject matter.
  • Provide a comparative international perspective (North America versus Europe versus developing nations).
  • Enthuse students to become environmentally conscientious and astute towards helping our future society.
  • Provide knowledge, skills, and practice for students to think critically about the environmental risks and public ethics of problems of air pollution.
  • Provide an introduction to air pollution public issues in which students learn how to engage themselves as active and knowledgeable citizens.

A. Science

Dr. Krupa has written an introductory textbook specially for this course entitled, Air Pollution, People and Plants. This book is available for purchase at the Bookstore, Student Union, St. Paul campus. This book is obligatory since the contents of the lectures, in summary will follow the contents of the book, although there will be additional materials presented during the lectures. The instructor does not gain any financial profit from the sale of the book.
