Britta managed a portfolio of research projects for PIs affiliated with the SBC, as well as writes grant proposals and cultivated new business opportunities for the SBC.

As an international development practitioner, Britta was interested in the many ways that agriculture can reduce poverty and improve nutrition. She believes that sound science is needed to inform development interventions and policies, and in order for governments and development stakeholders to increase food security, they must have access to the best research possible to make informed decisions. Britta was focused on identifying and supporting research that will contribute to reducing hunger globally.

Britta brought a diverse set of skills and experiences to the SBC team. From 2007 to 2009 she was a Peace Corps Volunteer in rural Bolivia doing agriculture extension and training related to beekeeping. From 2009 to 2010 Britta was a Peace Corps Response Volunteer in Liberia where she worked with the World Food Program to train Parent-Teacher Associations. At UC Davis she created a ran the UC Davis Horticulture Innovation Lab Demonstration Garden where visitors and students could interact with production systems and technologies from around the world.

Britta will be working as a New Business Development Manager coordinating the design of international agriculture assistance projects and proposals. Thank you, Britta, for your work here in Plant Pathology!
