Congratulations to our recent external scholarship & fellowship winners 2020

  • Robert Alvarez-Quinto: One of three recipients of the 2020 Philip C. Hamm Memorial Scholarship for Graduate Students.  This award recognizes outstanding impacts and career potential in the plant sciences and is the highest honor for UMN students in the plant sciences.

  • Robert Alvarez-Quinto: 2020-2021 MnDRIVE Global Food Ventures Graduate Student Professional Development Fellowship.

  • Dong-gyu Kim: 2020-2021 MnDRIVE Global Food Ventures Graduate Student Professional Development Fellowship.

  • Savana Lipps: Walter H. Judd International Graduate & Professional Fellowship.  Savana will use her award to complete an internship experience at IRRI (International Rice Research Institute) in the Philippines, working with Ricardo Oliva on Xanthamonas oryzae pv. oryzae, the causal agent of bacterial leaf blight of rice. 

  • Eric Nazareno: Highly competitive UMN 2020-2021 Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship to support his last year of his Ph.D. program.

  • Nick Rajtar: The 2020 winner of the Minnesota Mycological Society Scholarship, a $1,000 cash prize.
