Growing Hops at Home
Graduate Research Assistant, Joshua Havill, is teaching a course for homebrewers centered around growing hops at home at a variety of locations around the metro! The aim of the course is to give a home-gardener a basic working knowledge about the history of hops and beer, how they are utilized during the brewing process, the botany of hops, followed by developing a practical skill set for growing hops and the things to be considered for growing them at home. Havill will also discuss topics related to fertility and nutrition, soil characteristics, hop diseases, as well as certain aspects of research being done at the University.
