Yanhong Dong promoted to Associate Research Professor
Congratulations to Yanhong Dong, who was recently promoted from Assistant Research Professor to Associate Research Professor. Yanhong earned her Ph.D. degree in Inorganic Chemistry at Nanjing University. She joined our department in 2002 as a Research Associate, leading the Mycotoxin Diagnostic Laboratory. In this role, Yanhong has provided exceptional leadership aimed at identification, quantification, and characterization of fungal toxins, especially those produced by plant pathogens that impact crop productivity. On an annual basis, Yanhong and her research team process approximately 30,000 grain samples, providing data on toxins associated with Fusarium head blight to approximately 40 research labs worldwide! In recognition of her expertise and many contributions to our research mission, in 2013, Yanhong was promoted to Assistant Research Professor. Since that time, Yanhong has continued to contribute important research with 26 authored and co-authored peer-reviewed articles. Through the Mycotoxin Diagnostic Laboratory, she has provided experiential learning opportunities for numerous undergraduate students, many of whom have gone on to pursue advanced study in the sciences. Yanhong has also contributed to our department, our institution, and our profession through service activities, including serving as Chair of the department’s Development, Alumni, and External Relations Committee. Congratulations, Yanhong!
