Professor Emeritus Richard Zeyen was granted a 2017 University of Minnesota’s Alumni Association’s Service Award. It was presented to him by University President, Eric W. Kaler in a ceremony on October 19, 2017 at the Commons Hotel on the Minneapolis Campus. The award recognizes the service of a volunteer who has had a major impact on the University, its schools, colleges, departments, or faculty. Last month, Pablo Olivera visited Ethiopia to participate as a trainer at the Wheat Rust Pathology Training organized by the Delivering Genetic Gain in Wheat (DGGW) Project at Cornell University and the Ethiopian Institute for Agricultural Research (EIAR). In collaboration with local and international scientists, Pablo was involved in developing and implementing a five days theoretical and practical training on wheat rusts. Read more >>

As Senior Researcher and Professor at Instituto Nacional de Investigación Agropecuaria (INIA) Uruguay (National Institute for Agricultural Research), alumna Nora Altier's research is focused on developing bio-protection programs to minimize the impact of diseases and pests on forages, field and horticultural crops, and forest ecosystems and provide professional development opportunities for graduate students at the M.S. and Ph.D. levels.
