Chanda, Lien, Rude present at 53rd Sugarbeet Research Reporting Session

Chanda recieves sugarbeet distinguished service award

University of Minnesota Sugarbeet Pathology Group attended the 53rd sugarbeet research reporting session held on Jan 10, 2022 in Fargo, ND. This meeting was primarily attended by the growers, industry personnel, and researchers with an attendance of over 200 people this year.

Samantha Rude presented her ongoing PhD research on developing ways to phenotype plants for resistance to Aphanomyces. Austin Lien talked about how fungicides can impact population structure of Cercospora leaf spot pathogen under field conditions. Dr. Ashok Chanda presented a summary of key findings from fungicide efficacy trials from 2022 and offered recommendations for managing Cercospora and Rhizoctonia diseases for 2023 growing season.

Dr. Chanda was also presented the 2022 Sugarbeet Distinguished Service Award from the Sugarbeet research and Education Board of Minnesota and North Dakota for his significant contributions to the sugarbeet industry.
