CFANS Symposium sees PLPA students shine

The inaugural CFANS symposium spotlighted research from a variety of CFANS departments, and Plant Pathology made a strong showing. 

Tessa Kothlow, an undergrad in the Blanchette Lab, won a Distinguished Poster Presentation Award for her poster "Protecting Minnesota's Natural Resources: Biosurveillance for new Phytophthora Disease," done in collaboration with graduate student Nick Rajtar.

Pranaya Kaki presented  "Antagonistic activity of rhizosphere microbiota against corn fungal pathogens."

Nick Greatens and Karl Miller presented "Report of Puccinia digitaticoronata, a newly observed crown rust fungus of Kentucky bluegrass in North America."

 Greatens also presented a poster solo, "Puccinia coronata var. coronata, a crown rust pathogen of two highly invasive species, is detected across the Midwest and Northeast United States."
