The overall objective of my research is to improve wheat in the Northern Great Plains with unique alleles captured from different gene pools. This is a long-term project where I will be integrating agronomic, plant breeding, and genomic work in order to help achieve our research goals. The initial phases of my research will involve:
Assembling, increasing, and characterizing genetic and phenotypic variation in a diverse collection of wheat germplasm.
Initiating the development of our population in order to assess the novel alleles found in an adapted hard red spring cultivar.
