Biography

As a Research Scientist in the Small Grains Pathology lab, my primary focus is on bacterial leaf streak (BLS) of wheat and barley, caused by Xanthomonas translucens pathovars. Our lab group collaborates with the UMN wheat and barley programs to identify resistant and susceptible varieties and breeding materials through both field and greenhouse screenings. Additionally, I work on diagnostics and population studies of Xanthomonas translucens pathovars. My current research interests include seed transmission and epidemiology of Xanthomonas translucens in wheat and barley. Previously, I worked in collaboration with the Malvick lab to study recent outbreaks of Goss's Wilt of corn and as a researcher in Carol Ishimaru’s lab on bacterial soft rot and black leg of potato.
