Education/Professional Experience

I hold a Ph.D. from the University of Montana where I studied microbial community assembly and its implications for biogeochemical cycling and plant succession during early ecosystem development at retreating glaciers across the western hemisphere.

In 2015, I came to the University of Minnesota as a postdoctoral associate to gain experience working in managed ecosystems where soil microorganisms are important drivers nutrient availability, crop health, and productivity. At the Minnesota Long-term Agricultural Research Network, I am researching how cropping system diversity and management strategies (nitrogen fertilization and cover cropping) contribute to soil microbial community assembly and function regionally across the upper Midwest.
