Faculty member Devanshi Khokhani has received a National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award for her project "CAREER: Integrating the Next Generation into Investigating Cross-kingdom Interactions between Mycorrhizal Fungi and Hyphosphere Bacteria." Khokhani writes:

"I’m honored to receive an NSF CAREER Award supporting my lab’s work on the interactions between arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial bacteria in cereal crops. Our research asks how these fungi recruit helpful microbes, how the microbes enhance mycorrhization and nutrient uptake, and how the partnership remains functional under different nutrient conditions. This project will deepen our understanding of plant-microbe partnerships that can support more sustainable agriculture. A key part of this CAREER award is training the next generation of scientists, including undergraduate and graduate students and high school teachers who will share plant-microbe science with their students."
