Biography

I hold a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, after which I worked in biotech for a number of years. I then earned a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Minnesota, after which I worked as a post doctorate at the Center for Metabolomics and Proteomics and the Nathan Shock Center on Genome Integrity and Aging.

My personal research is focused on metabolomic and proteomic analysis of plant-fungal interactions to determine markers of infection as well as characterize the molecular mechanisms of wheat and barley infection by Fusarium graminearum. I intend to continue the work of the University of Minnesota's Mycotoxin Diagnostic Laboratory for the US Wheat and Barley Scab Initiative in analyzing grain samples from around the country for deoxynivalenol contamination.

In my spare time, I enjoy listening to and playing music, reading, cooking, and listening to podcasts.
